Quality control

By using the latest quality control methods during project execution, we ensure timely identification and elimination of defects. A combination of control methods makes it possible to achieve the most reliable results. Therefore, during construction, we perform quality inspections using, among others, the following methods of control:

  • Visual and measuring control
  • Ultrasonic defectoscopy
  • Ultrasonic thickness gauging
  • Radiographic inspection
  • Radiometric control
  • Dye penetrant testing

We use an automated ultrasound system PipeWizard to control the quality of welded joints. This method projects an image of the defect, determines its location on the perimeter of the joint, assesses its depth and the number of the welding pass where the defect occurred, establishes its geometrical dimensions, and discerns its type.

Stroytransgaz is also making pilot introduction of a radiometric method for control of the quality of welded joints. The technology, certified for use in Russia, employs a specialized radiometric unit.

Company specialists verify the quality of the coatings that have been applied (including automatic inspections) and assess the quality of pipeline coating with thickness gauges and holiday detectors.
